¨Handcraft¨

The craft comprises basically works and works performed manually and with little or no intervention of machinery, are usually decorative or commonly used. Whoever engages in this activity is called a craftsman.

The term refers to the craft work done manually by a person where each piece is different from the others, differentiating the series or industrial work.

In order to define and distinguish the craft industry, Eutimio Tovar Rodríguez in “The Mexican crafts, social and economic importance, has proposed definition of craft as” any manual technique creatively to produce individual goods and services “and therefore industry has defined as” any mechanical technique applied to produce socially, goods and services. ” For many, the craft is a middle ground between design and art. For others it is a continuation of traditional crafts, in which the aesthetic plays a prominent role but the practicality of the object produced is also important. Some artisans are also engaged in so-called ‘traditional trades’, but fewer and fewer. One of the main problems of the craft is the competition with products from low cost manufacturing processes, similar in appearance to the traditional produce, but with less price and quality.

Another difficulty is the way the artisans market their products, since it is a feature of the craft, which takes place in individual workshops or a few individuals, with little ability to reach the market.

In general, the craft is performed on all the peoples of each country.

The vast territory of Argentina, allowing each region has its own characteristics in terms of crafts. There are craftsmen of the native peoples that remain alive ancestral techniques.
